A human design body graph is a blank canvas, ready to be colored with the aura of a magical spirit. There are three aspects to a graph that are always the same—your body graph is determined by knowing an exact birth time, birth date, and place of birth, which (similar to your birth chart) creates a one-of-a-kind painting.
Every graph has nine centers that represent the chakras of the body: the Crown, Ajna, Throat, G-Center, Heart, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Root, and Spleen are always positioned in the same order and connected with the same channels or lines. In these centers, there are 64 gates, or numbers, placed throughout the graph, which correlate to the 64 life lessons or themes, of the I-Ching and Kabbalah texts. With this as its backbone, every body graph will have different centers, lines, and gates, making each one unique.
Each center on the body graph has a particular role in helping us understand how our energy fluctuates, communicates internally, and how that energy is expressed outwardly to the world. The channels or lines are the wires on a circuit board, connecting our centers and directing how our energy flows throughout our body.
The gates describe our innate gifts that are within our unconscious and conscious selves. The most important gate in our body graph—representing 70% of our karmic energy—is our personality Sun Gate. This represents where the sun was in the sky when we were born. As we begin to understand our body graph and energy type, the Universe shows and sends us more of what we desire most, and we begin to understand how our energy flows in response.
Another fourth constant in a body graph is the four arrows surrounding the Crown chakra at the top of the graph. These arrows are called the Four Transformations, and can be described through the saying: if we digest the foods and information we are meant to, in the environments that our bodies love, we’ll see the perspective on life that we are meant to, and be motivated to act in service for the greater collective.
To break this down further, going from left to right, the top left arrow is linked to our body’s digestion, describing what foods and information our body thrives on most. The bottom left arrow is a representation of what environments our body likes to be in. The bottom right arrow is how we are meant to see the world around us or our perspective. This arrow is also called our manifestation arrow—how we bring what we desire most into our lives. Lastly, the top right arrow is how we will feel motivated to act when our mind’s genius is primed to create what our soul was destined for.
There are so many layers to uncovering what a body graph says about your energy type, just like your unique astrological birth chart. With the basic knowledge of which centers, channels, and gates you have defined, as well as which direction your Four Transformations are pointing in, is the perfect diving board to jump head first into embodying your design.
