Our open centers, also known as undefined chakras in our human design body graph, are like sponges. Sometimes our open centers can overflow with the energy around, unable to hold everything they have taken in. Just like a sponge that is over-saturated, it can drip out whatever it can’t hold. This is neither good nor bad! It is actually what an undefined center is designed to do. It is open in order to let energy flow in and out with ease. The more open centers we have in our body graph, the more our bodies want to pick up and ‘try on’ the energies we engage with. In other words, this can make us more sensitive to our environments and the people close to us. Our open centers are where we are designed to be empathic and feel others.
We are more prone to being conditioned to believe certain ideas, adopt characteristics, or embody constant energy that is not meant to be ours in our open centers. Let’s understand what each open or undefined chakra means. This in turn can help us release conditioning or expectations around using our body in ways that we are not designed to.
Open Crown Chakra
The very top of our head is a pressure center called the center of inspiration, or the Crown chakra. If this center is open, you may love to be out in the world exploring and engaging with new experiences. Your body is seeking to be delighted by what surrounds it. Your open Crown will not be stimulated by sitting on your couch all day where it is not able to be aroused by life.
A challenge to having an open Crown can be feeling the need to solve everyone else’s problems. Everyone else’s mental pressures may overwhelm you to the point that if you take in too many ideas you will have a harder time deciphering what inspiration truly resonates with you.
Open Ajna Chakra
The Ajna chakra, or third eye chakra, is below the Crown chakra and is the center of conceptual thought and opinions. An open Ajna is designed to have opinions but not necessarily share them all the time. Desiring to envelop a plethora of insights and concepts, many different things will appear interesting. You are able to easily identify which opinions you value most and which you agree or disagree with. However, with having an open Ajna, you may fall into a pattern of having one way of thinking about or seeing the world around you. You may try to find a sense of certainty by explaining the facts before you are not actually certain they are correct.
Open Throat Chakra
The Throat chakra, below the Ajna, is the center of manifestation in our body graph. This is where we speak and bring things into creation in the physical world. Whether that is by actually speaking, singing, writing, drawing, sculpting, or moving, this is our body declaring something new into existence.
If your Throat center is open, you do not have a constant supply of energy flowing to that chakra. You are the chameleon at the party, able to adapt and blend into various conversations. You might be a great listener, and able to speak profound information at the right moment. Allowing yourself to know that you don’t always have to speak up or speak your mind is essential to not overusing this center.
Open G-Center Chakra
The G-Center chakra, or Self-Direction chakra, is where we feel our sense of direction, identity, and love within the body. If this center is open in your graph, you are able to feel other people’s motivation toward their goals and toward the things they are creating in their life. How that person expresses themselves outwardly intrigues you to the point of exhaustion. However, when you are finally alone and not putting energy toward things, people, and/or places that inspire you, you may feel a sense of loss. You are designed to offer guidance to others in their particular paths of life without getting caught up in their whirlwind.
Open Heart Chakra
The Heart chakra, or Ego chakra, is the smallest triangle to the right of the G-Center on a body graph that is directly correlated to the heart, thymus, stomach, and gallbladder. Our drive and willpower to achieve in this material world live within this center. If you have an open Ego, which is roughly 63% of the world’s population, you may seek to be seen, feel validated, or find a sense of worthiness in this lifetime.
However, one of your powers is seeing what has value and what doesn’t, and discerning who can keep a promise or not. You naturally have an objective perspective and can guide others, seeing the glass-half-full side of life. You are not designed to constantly feel the pressure to compete and prove your worth of existence—instead, you just live.
Open Solar Plexus Chakra
The Solar Plexus is the center of emotions in human design, and classifies someone as either Emotional if it is colored in or Non-emotional if they have that center open. Non-emotionals desire to feel what Emotionals are feeling, as their bodies do not create their own emotional wave. Again, an open center is like a sponge, meaning that Non-emotionals take on other people’s emotions without realizing it and can become overwhelmed or more emotional than those that have that center defined. Non-emotionals have the power to embody their calm, cool, and collected energies when given time to empty out emotions that are not theirs.
Open Sacral Chakra
The Sacral center is the life force energy-giving chakra that is directly linked to an individual’s intestines and sex organs. If you have an open Sacral center, you can feel a lust for life and all that is ‘good’ in this world. You may have a hard time listening to your body’s cues when it is telling you that you’ve had too much of one thing, whether that be food, sex, or even being in a crowded mall. If you have an open Sacral chakra, your body desires to be fed with life force energy since you do not possess your own. Your superpower is to see how to guide and tweak energy to be efficient in completing tasks, or only taking exactly what you need out of any particular situation.
Open Spleen Chakra
The Spleen is the center of fight or flight in the body, the oldest awareness center in the human design body graph. The Spleen chakra is the triangle to the left-hand side of the Sacral center and is the home of instant intuitive downloads. Someone with this center colored in can, in a heartbeat, know what is right or wrong in any given situation. If you have this center open in your body graph, you are able to feel the fears and intuitions of the world. You may hold onto what is not good for you out of fear or a false sense of security from those that do have a defined Spleen.
Open Root Chakra
The Root center is the base of the entire body graph, correlating with our adrenal glands and the base of the pelvis. If you have this center open in your body graph then you have the beautiful ability to not allow pressure and stress to dictate your decisions in life. However, the drawback with an open Root is that you feel everyone’s pressures and stresses, and are in a constant state of rushing in order to feel stress-free.
